Laser tattoo removal

Gentle tattoo removal, without scarring

We remove tattoos with an exceptionally gentle Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (commonly called a YAG laser). For us, gentleness lies in the method: we carefully and gradually clear the pigment over several sessions, so that no scar is left on your skin.

Every tattoo is different: the colour, age, size and depth of the pigment decide how many sessions are needed and what you can expect. That is why the first step is always a personal consultation, where we look at the tattoo and tell you what a realistic result is and what it costs.

We carry out the treatment in a calm, well-kept setting at our salon in the 13th district. Alongside effectiveness, the integrity of our client’s skin matters most to us.

How does the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser work?

The laser emits extremely short, nanosecond light pulses. The pigment particles of the tattoo absorb the energy of the light, and the sudden effect shatters them into tiny pieces (selective photothermolysis, photoacoustic effect), while the surrounding healthy skin tissue remains largely untouched. So the laser does not “burn out” the pigment; it breaks the particles apart.

The broken-up, tiny particles are gradually cleared by the body’s immune system, the macrophages and the lymphatic system over the following weeks. That is why several sessions are needed and why it cannot be rushed: between treatments the skin needs time to heal and for the pigment to clear.

Why gradually, and why gently?

The most important condition for avoiding scars is patience. We work with careful settings and adjust the time between two treatments to the healing of the skin; we do not rush. According to the literature, the risk of scarring is low with treatments carried out by protocol with a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser: in a study analysing the data of 1041 patients, hypertrophic scarring occurred in 0,28%, and no keloid developed at all. This is data from the literature, not our salon’s own statistics, and the treatment in no case promises a risk-free result.

Scar treatment
If a scar does form, you won’t be left on your own
If scarring does develop after tattoo removal carried out by us, we offer immediate scar treatment at a reduced price. We of course take on scar treatment for anyone who comes to us after treatment elsewhere, but the price is reduced for those treated by us.

Brigi

I qualified as a cosmetician more than twenty years ago, and I used to run my own salon. Precision and cleanliness have always mattered most to me.

I love working with people, paying attention to what they need, and helping them feel more confident. It is a particular pleasure to work in modern beauty care at the Beautyflow for Men salon.

At the Beautyflow women's salon I completed several months of specialist training, so that I can perform laser tattoo removal with the greatest care.

Before the treatment

  • At the consultation, show us the tattoo and tell us how it was made.
  • Avoid sunbathing and the solarium before the treatment; sun-tanned skin cannot be treated.
  • The area to be treated should be intact, not inflamed, not injured.
  • Tell us if you take photosensitising medication, or if you are prone to scarring or keloids.
  • A freshly made tattoo can be treated once it has healed.

After the treatment

  • The treated area may be red and sensitive, and a blister or scab may also appear. Don’t pick or tear at it.
  • Care for the skin with the ointment or cream recommended by the specialist.
  • Avoid sunbathing, the sauna, baths and swimming pools until healed, and use SPF 30+ sunscreen.
  • Wear loose clothing over the treated area.
  • Let the skin heal completely before the next treatment.

When is it not recommended?

  • During pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • If you take photosensitising medication, a medical consultation is required.
  • Active skin disease, wound, infection or herpes in the area to be treated.
  • A tendency to keloid scarring, or a history of cancer or skin cancer.
  • A recent tan or an unhealed tattoo.

What might you feel, and what can you expect?

  • A short, sharp, stinging sensation, depending on the size of the tattoo and the area.
  • The tattoo does not disappear in one session: it fades gradually as the body clears the pigment.
  • Some colours, such as lighter shades and green, are harder to remove.
  • Complete removal cannot be guaranteed; at the consultation we will tell you what the realistic goal is.

Frequently asked questions

What our clients ask most often

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

It causes a short, sharp, stinging sensation that varies with the size of the tattoo and the treated area. At the consultation we will tell you what to expect.

How many sessions are needed to remove a tattoo?

This depends on the colour, age, size and depth of the tattoo, so we assess it at the consultation. The pigment fades gradually, so several sessions are needed, and between treatments the skin needs time to heal.

Is a scar left after laser tattoo removal?

We work with a careful, gradual method so that no scar is left. According to the literature, the risk of scarring is low with Q-switched Nd:YAG treatments carried out by protocol, but it cannot be ruled out entirely. If a scar does develop after treatment carried out by us, we offer immediate scar treatment at a reduced price.

What is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser?

A laser that delivers nanosecond light pulses and breaks the pigment particles of the tattoo into tiny pieces. The body’s immune system gradually clears the broken-up particles over the following weeks.

Can every tattoo be removed?

Whether a tattoo can be removed depends on the colour, depth and age of the pigment. Some colours, such as lighter shades and green, are harder to remove, and complete removal cannot be guaranteed. At the consultation we will tell you what the realistic goal is.

How much does tattoo removal cost?

The price depends on the size, colour and depth of the tattoo, so we give a price after a preliminary consultation.
